Fix 422 VALIDATION_ERROR: The given data was invalid

How to read a 422 VALIDATION_ERROR from the Shakewell Wallet API, including the per-template person fields that make a create-pass call fail.

errors maps each rejected field to its messages. Fix every field listed.

Common causes

  • template_id does not exist or is on another account.
  • person is missing. It is required when creating a pass.
  • A field the template requires is missing, for example an email address. Required fields come from the template's signup form.
  • barcode_value is longer than 64 characters, contains non-printable characters, or is already used on your account.
  • message is empty or over 1,000 characters on a notification.
  • status is not one of active, inactive, suspended, expired, voided.
